Conditions for Admission
In addition to the stipulations in this prospectus, the application form and the code of conduct etc., admission will be subject to the students' and their parents' acceptance of the following conditions:
1. SCMLD is a private institute and our programmes are not recognised by, affiliated to or approved by any university, government or statutory bodies such as the AICTE, UGC etc. SCMLD gives certificates for its courses and IGNOU gives degree/diploma to students clearing its courses. SCMLD, as a Partner Institute provides classroom coaching for these courses.
2. Long hours of work will be required at SCMLD and hence students must have the stamina and will to work under such conditions. It will not be easy.
3. SCMLD has unconventional processes and the authority of the director, staff, faculty, wardens etc. must be accepted. Students are to cooperate and become partners in our effort to build an Institution of Leadership and they should go out with leadership qualities.
4. SCMLD's vision, mission, goals, philosophy etc. will always be the ground for all work and only those who can subscribe to these should consider SCMLD for admission.
5. Admission and the continuation of studentship depend upon the students' willingness and ability to participate in co-curricular activities such as yoga, pranayama, workout, out bound programmes and all other unique practises of SCMLD. These are mandatory along with physical, mental and emotional analyses and assessments for positive interpersonal behaviours.
6. Students must have 100% attendance with a 15% exemption only for hospitalisation and medically prescribed full rest.
7. The candidates accompanied by at least ONE parent must visit the SCMLD campus before admission can be finalized.
8. The use of laptops, mobile phones, music systems are prohibited in the hostels between 10:30 pm and 6:30 am. This is the time to sleep and there will be no exceptions to this rule. Mobile phones are not allowed on campus. Parents and wards can contact over mobile phones between 8:15 pm & 9:15 pm only.
9. If the above rules with regard to the use of such gadgets are violated, the items will be confiscated and not returned. Students are to make note of this.
10. Smoking, drinking liquor, consuming drugs and possessing these items while on campus or in the hostels of SCMLD will bring about termination of studentship at the institute.
11. Stealing, copying during exams, proxy, not following safety measures etc. will be seriously dealt with.
12. Every student must score a minimum of 60% marks and no re-exam will be given by the institute suo-moto. Students requiring a improvement-exam will have to provide an undertaking affirming that they are ready for a improvement-exam and will score more than 60%, having paid the improvement-exam fees and submitting a full syllabus essay or any other assignment as set by the faculty. The acceptance of such applications for improvement-exam, however, is at the discretion of the faculty.
13. Students will not be eligible for campus placement if they score less than 3 out of 5 in the Academic Index, CGPA, Action Orientation, Integrity and other indices. Similarly, as stated in the placement rules, only 5 chances for campus placement will be available per student, with one grace chance after the procedure for the entire batch is over.
14. Violation of attendance, hostel, dress code and other rules enshrined in the code of conduct will be met with penal assignments such as library study, earning by working assignments, community work etc.
15. Students must work and earn Rs. 1000 a month mandatorily as explained earlier in the unique and unconventional inputs at SCMLD.
16. At least 5 hours will be spent reading every day in order to grasp the basic theory and concepts of the syllabus and for depth in academic knowledge.
17. Late entry into classes and hostels and early exits from sessions will be result in penal assignments or fines, as the case might be.
18. Students will be assessed on their behaviour in hostels, on campus, library, and computer halls i.e., in short, students will be assessed throughout during the course of their study at SCMLD.
19. Students must meet at least 10 corporates such as VPs, GMs etc. as assigned and for a minimum 3 days a year must be spent in Mumbai conducting surveys, meeting commuters in local trains and so on.
20. SCMLD reserves the right to introduce assignments as and when required.
21. Hostel re-shuffling will be done every trimester. No objection to this will be accepted.
22. Exam pattern will be as follows:
• 5% - Class Participation (interaction not talking)
• 15% - Surprise Tests (individual written)
• 20% - Fortnightly Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation Process by extempore presentation based on team study / distributed & shared learning to reduce burden of study. Team score will be the individual score. Only one in the team chosen at random will do the extempore on behalf of all.
• 10% - Pre-End Term Extempore + team viva - voce
• 10% - Pre-end term Group Discussion
• 40% - End Term Exam (individual written)
The End term exam of each subject has two parts. Part A will consist of the last 40% syllabus while Part B will consist of the rest 60% of the syllabus which is already tested on team basis - continuous evaluation etc.
If a student scores more than 60% in Part B then the best of two is considered for calculating the final score of that student – to be fair to him/her incase the team has not performed. If a student score less than 60% in Part B, the least of the two will be the final score, as he/she has taken advantage of the team effort. Piggy backing is not allowed. Passing standard: 50% in each subject and 60% overall in each trimester. If not, only course completion certificate will be issued not pass certificate.
23. Improvement exam will be only for the 40% marks - conducted for 100% marks and scaled down to 40%.
24. If improvement exam is not sought by the student within 15 days of the declaration of results, SCMLD reserves the right to issue certificates based on the actual grades / scores and refuse improvement exams.
25. Parent’s requests for late payment of fee, concessions for absence, indiscipline, lower fee, holidays, rites and rituals at home etc. will not be entertained.
26. SCMLD will not be responsible for any lose or damage happened to students due to his/her own negligence, and / or due to behaviour of roommates, classmates or any other person whosoever it maybe.
27. SCMLD reserves the right to alter, amend, modify, revise anything in the prospectus as it deems fit and proper, depending on changes in the environment, requirements, students' benefits and so on.
Once admission is taken it will mean that the student and his/her parent(s) have accepted all these conditions, code of conduct, hostel rules and all aspects of SCMLD stipulated / not stipulated in the prospectus, application form etc. However any suggestion, concern, views expressed are in the best interest of the students and the institution, SCMLD will consider those positively. |
