PGPEL & APEL (Direct Entry) Students’ Induction,

along with parents will be held On 4th & 5th June 2012 , covering the institutional processes, educational, training and evaluation systems, as to why they are so and how these will help students emerge extraordinary and as successful executives /entrepreneurs in the business world.

Course Commencement: • PGPEL: 9:00 am, 6th June 2012• APEL: 9:00 am, 14th July 2012

Cancellation of admission after induction: After induction and all the clarifications those who still want to cancel the admission can do so. But 50% of annual tuition fee / first installment of the annual tuition fee paid, shall be deducted as administrative charges. Any cancellation after 7th June 2012 will not get refund of anything paid except the caution deposit, because the institute spends lot of time, efforts and money on advertisement, selection centres and processes.

Orientation / Bridge Programme:
Direct entry students of APEL will have to undergo a bridge programme from 2nd May to 2nd June 2011. Then from 6th June to 12th July an internship. Bridge programme fee is Rs.30,000/-. For the course to begin, there must be minimum 30 eligible and suitable candidates taking admission. Clearing this Bridge Programme is a must for APEL direct entry students. Internship arrangement is the responsibility of the students. Internship must have minimum Rs.5000/- as monthly stipend.

Earlier PGPEL or PGDM students of SCMLD admitted for APEL need no induction or bridge programme as they have undergone such programmes already.

The PGPEL students who score less than 65% in entrance will have to undergo the bridge programe starting from 2nd May 2011 to 2nd June 2011.

Trimester Plan : Both Programmes
IGNOU has examinations in June & December every year. A student can take 4 subjects / courses in a semester. SCMLD students joining in June may take the first semester exam of IGNOU MBA / PGDIM (Graduates with less than 50% marks) in December 2012, second semester in June 2013, third semester in December 2013 and fourth semester in June 2014 and the remaining exams in December 2014. However classroom coaching for all the concerned subjects will be finished by April 2014. The project work of IGNOU MBA can also be done by December 2014, if not earlier. Anyone still needing classroom coaching after April 2014 can approach SCMLD for special weekend sessions as most of them will have joined companies by June 2014.

The same pattern could be followed for those students whose marks are less than 50% in graduation. They will take exams for PGDIM exactly as the subjects of MBA above, and then proceed for specialisation PG Diplomas in Marketing Management, Operations Management, Financial Management or Human Resource Management, as they choose.

In short, those who are graduates with 50% and above marks can take up IGNOU MBA and those with less than 50% marks can go for PGDIM first and then go for any of the specialisation PG Diploma of their choice. They can also take the integrative courses of IGNOU and obtain MBA subject to meeting its eligibility (See page no. 81)
SCMLD programmes admission is subject to clearing its entrance.

IGNOU programmes Admission by IGNOU is through CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, CET of state Governments or OPENMAT of IGNOU scoring minimum 40% percentile as the case may be.

At SCMLD the first two trimester courses / subjects of PGPEL are compulsory. The objective is to build a strong conceptual base spanning all functions of business; develop awareness of the art, science and contemporary realities of enterprises functioning; sharpen the mental & intellectual acumen; initiate an inner journey of self discovery and calmness; inculcate habits of self management, self governance & excellence and uncover the leadership potential, through a variety of activities, classroom sessions, case studies, workshops, assignments, out bounds, learning crucibles and through our day to day response system. Demolition of dysfunctional and un-leader like mind set is part of the process. Specialisation specific coaching is in IIIrd Trimester with certain common subjects and processes. There shall be a number of learning by doing / organising assignments during all the trimesters. APEL has mostly specialisation electives with a few common courses.

While SCMLD follows a Trimester system for its leadership programmes, the IGNOU programmes / exams are in Semester system. However the coaching / grooming will be well synchronised and finished before the IGNOU exams. Those who pass out of PGPEL / APEL and take up jobs - SCMLD can conduct classroom sessions (revisions) on week end basis if they have any doubts. Otherwise the entire coaching would have finished by April 2014, as said earlier.

SCMLD will have no say over any changes in IGNOU eligibility criteria, examination system or course structure etc. Students should be willing to accept these changes.
