Pre-Joining Studies and Assignments (April - May 2012),
Course Structure & subjects
During 10th April 2012 to 30th May 2012, those who are admitted, are to do a series of assignments being at home. They are also to get trained themselves in MS word, Excel, Access and Power Point. These will not be taught at SCMLD as it would waste valuable time. Advanced Excel will be taught.
Also the above period is to be utilized for reading the following additional to the above computer skills, viz.
• Basic Applied Mathematics
• Basic Micro & Macro Economics
• Consumer Behaviour
• English Grammar & Communication
• One Biography and reading Mr. Ramchandra Guha’s ‘India After Gandhi’.
Bridge programme students will do this before & during the Bridge Programme.
Syllabi, reference books and assignment details will be on our website and e-mailed to those admitted. All these are credit courses and examinations / tests / viva - voce will be held for all these, during 2nd & 3rd July 2012.
Admitted students may also undergo Art of Living, Vipassana and Yoga & Pranayama training during this period, on their own. This will give them added advantage. Students of ‘Bridge Programme’ will have to do the above assignments before the Bridge Programme
Bridge Programme. 2nd May 2012 - 2nd June 2012(PGPEL): It is for those who are not able to score minimum 65% in entrance test for PGPEL. Training sessions during bridge programme will include - Unblocking of the person, removing inhibitions, fear & anxieties, Communication, English grammar, Public speaking, Games, Presentations, Language Proficiency, Personality Development, Learning to Learn, Group Tasks, Business Essentials, Cultural Programmes to build confidence, Outbounds, Dynamic Meditation, Research Methods & analysis (statistics) and so on besides Holistic Health, Time & Stress Management , reclaiming of spiritual roots etc. This will be a “lifetime gift” to such students. It is transformational. They will also organize and arrange the two day induction programme to be held on 4th & 5th June 2012.
(Induction for all students - Merit Category, Bridge & Rural Batches is on 4th & 5th June 2012 along with parents)6th-23rd June 2012: During this time the Bridge Programme students will do field assignments.
Alongside field assignments, evening sessions on Basic Business Maths, Basics of Statistics, Basics of Accounting & Financial Reporting, Business Plan Essentials, Essentials of Communication & Negotiation, holistic health, Kaizen Practice in hostels, assignments of meeting first generation entrepreneurs etc. will be covered.
The merit category students will go through the processes gone through by the Bridge Programme students during this period as the above. They have to work harder during this period. Later, they will have field assignments of 10 days.

The academics and grooming come to an end by 22nd April 2013. However, revision workshops as follows will be provided to volunteer students at no extra cost during May - June 2013 if they are doing internship for APEL in Pune. (provided that they are interested & eligible and as such given admission to APEL)

SCMLD strives to provide maximum. Students should stretch enough to take out maximum. Hard work with tenacity is essential. You can take as much as you want from SCMLD. All programmes at SCMLD are evaluated and GPA / CGPA is awarded. The Bridge Programme students, students of Rural Batch and those who are weak in English will have coaching for English language skills as long as they are ready to improve and learn.
Workshops mentioned and/other coaching initiatives will be conducted/organised on as required basis, and availability of time and the students’ ability to partake of those.
