Post Graduate Programme in Executive Leadership - (2010 - 11)

Pre-Joining Studies and Assignments (April - May 2010),

 

Course Structure & subjects : During 1st April2010 to 30th May 2010, those who are admitted, are to do a series of assignments being at home town. They are also to get trained themselves in MS word, Excel, Access and Power Point. These will not be taught at SCMLD as it would waste valuable time.


Also the above period is to be utilized for reading the following being at home, additional to the above computer skills, viz.• Basic Applied Mathematics • Basic Micro & Macro Economics • Consumer Behaviour • English Grammar & Communication • One Biography and reading Mr. Ramchandra Guha’s ‘India After Gandhi’ and Lord Meghnad Desai’s "The Re-discovery of India". Bridge programme students will do this in April 2010.


Syllabi, reference books and assignment details will be on our website and also e-mailed to those admitted. All these are credit courses and examinations / tests / viva - voce will be held for all these, during June 2010.
Admitted students may also undergo Art of Living, Vipassana and Yoga & Pranayama training during this period, on their own. This will give them added advantage. Students of ‘Bridge Programme’ will have to do this during April 2010.

 

Trimester-I

Induction 2nd & 3rd June 2010 along with parents


4th June - 30th June 2010 : daily drills for alignment to SCMLD ways of campus life and the learning processes.
Sessions on : Unblocking inhibitions, removing fear and anxieties, public speaking, basic business maths, basics of statistics, basics of accounting & financial reporting, business plan essentials, essentials of communication, holistic health, life, time & stress management, learning to learn and kaizen practice in hostels, assignments of meeting first generation entrepreneurs etc. will be covered. This will be followed by the following. Hence this trimester is of four months. Rest will be of three months.

Industry / Business Internship (Being at home / in home towns or staying in hostel)

 

Common to all specialisations : 1st May - 30th June 2010: Industry / Sector / Student Specific.
The academics and grooming come to an end by 15th April 2010. However revision workshops as follows will be provided to volunteer students at no extra cost during internship period if they are in Pune. Internship Report is a 10 credit course. Minimum 500 hrs. of actual field work is envisaged. One can submit report latest by 30th June 2010.


The revision workshops / classes will be held in the evenings or during weekends for the subjects specified below :
• SPSS : Theory & Practicals (Software Package for Social Science data analysis)

• Business Strategy

• Advanced Statistics

• Advanced Excel
• Analytics & Report Writing

• Presentations & Shared Learning

• GD / Interview Skill Training, Discover the Self process in batches of 50 - 55 students on Outbound camp for those who will be doing internship in Pune industries
• Quality system & techniques, SAS / Oracle, Cross cultural aspects or any other subject - sector / industry / company specific provided 25 or more students request for it. It is flexible as per requirement of the students and the business world dynamics. Those who volunteer for this (May - June) coaching and pass, will get special certificates to that effect or extra credits. All these are to make students confident, competent and industry / business ready.


Students can stay in hostels if internships are in Pune companies. Mess will be available for breakfast & dinner. It should be paid for separately.


Internship is to understand business processes across all functions viz. Marketing, Finance, HR, IT and Manufacturing. Any Executive, to be successful in his/her specialized roles, has to be a businessperson first and then a functional expert. Corporates now look for people who are versatile and multi skilled. Stipend may or may not be available depending on companies.


SCMLD strives to provide maximum. Students should stretch enough to take maximum. Hard work with tenacity is essential. You can take as much as you want from SCMLD. All programmes at SCMLD are evaluated and GPA / CGPA is awarded.


Convocation : 14th July 2011 with a 2 day Pre-Convocation Foundation Day Seminar.


Successful in PGPEL, interested students can seek admission to Advanced Programme in Executive Leadership (APEL - 2010-11) without any entrance test or Bridge / Orientation Programme.
