Additional Certificate Programmes

Extent of knowing, the amount of knowledge or memory power are not going to make a leader executive. Knowledge which is not useful, not used in action or not usable, is useless. Therefore SCMLD tries to  inculcate habits essential for excellence and a variety of skillsets in its students alongside academics.

1. Certified Financial Planner
SCMLD has signed an agreement with the Financial Planning Standards Board, India for SCMLD to be the education provider for their above certification. FPSB, India will be the standard setting and examining body in conjunction with the International CFP Council. FPSB, India is an affiliate of FPSB located in Denver, USA. It is a Confederation of FPSBs of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, UK and the USA, besides India. FPSB, India’s Chartered Members are :

CFP qualified people can get preference in employment in Insurance Companies, Mutual Funds, Banks, Pension Fund Companies etc.
The modules to be covered are :
•Risk Management & Insurance Planning

•Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits

•Investment Planning

•Tax & Estate Planning and

•Financial Planning Construction.

All PGDM students at SCMLD are expected to undergo this training at no extra cost. The coaching expenses are met from the Students Special Development Contribution Fund. But the examination and registration fees payable to FPSB, India has to be borne by individual students. Any graduate can also enroll for this programme and get certified subject to his / her passing the exams.

2. Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM)
For this certification one has to clear the following modules.
•Basics of Supply Chain Management

•Master Planning of Resources

•Detailed Scheduling & Planning

•Execution & Control of Operations and

•Strategic Management of Resources

This will add value to students of Manufacturing & Operations Management and Systems specialisations of PGDM, who would like to take up employment with IT companies, consulting companies, large scale manufacturing companies, supply chain & logistics companies and so on. They must be engineering graduates.

3. Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM)
This consists of the following modules.
•Enterprise Fundamentals & Concepts

•Identifying & Creating Demand

•Designing Products & Processes

•Delivering Products & Services and

•Integrated Enterprise Management

This can be taken up by any student.
Both CPIM and CIRM programmes are of APICS - The Association of Operations Management, Alexandria, Virginia, USA. Their associate, the Institute of Manufacturing Resource Management of India, located in Mumbai oversees the conduct of examinations in India.

4. Six Sigma Certification
SCMLD has entered into an MOU with M/s cMAT Software Pvt. Ltd., Pune, the Indian Associate of Six Sigma & Advanced Controls Inc., USA, who will certify students, provided they pass the modules in maximum two attempts. Additionally, on passing the theoretical subjects, if the student carries out successfully a live project as required, he/she will be eligible for Green Belt. Those who do not complete projects get the Six Sigma Certification which is equivalent to Green Belt in terms of content and understanding. But to be certified as a Green Belt, project is mandatory. Coaching cost for Six Sigma is from the Students Special Development Fund.Examination and certification are by S.S. & A.C. Inc., USA. Alternatively if the MOU is not renewed this year training will be arranged from local experts / agencies.

5. Career Development Skills Programme
On successful completion of the workshop modules in this, the PGDM students will be certified in different grades as qualified, jointly by Stratecent Consulting & SCMLD. Stratecent Consulting is the India marketing agency & facilitator of CCV - Creating Client Value - the simulation based e-learning programme developed by Imparta in collaboration with leading business practitioners and academics from London Business School and INSEAD. SCMLD has already procured licensed copies of the simulation tool for PGDM students to practice in areas of sales, marketing and strategy. No additional fee is required to be paid for this. The CCV programme is used for training of employees by world’s largest corporations like: GE, McKinsey, KPMG, E&Y, Metlife, Johnson & Johnson, Citibank, Standard Chartered, 3M, ABB, HP, IBM, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, JWT, London Business School, INSEAD, Nortel, Booze, Allen & Hamilton, O2, O&M, PWC, Boston Consulting Group, Prudential, Deloitte, Reuters, Sloan School of Management, Deutsche Bank, EDS, Exxon, Mobil, Financial Times, UPS, Gartner etc.

6. First Aid, Resuscitation & Life Saving
This programme of 3 days duration conducted by Rashtriya Life Saving Society to equip students with the skills of helping people in distress - victims of accident and other emergencies / disasters. It enhances confidence and the self worth of students to be of use to others. No additional fees required to be paid.

7. System Thinking
Using Stella software, first of its kind in India in higher education - PGDM students undergo this 70 - 80 hrs. programme spread over the first three trimesters, to understand the interdependence and interconnectedness of various variables,  subsystems and phenomena which finally produces an effect, result, output or an outcome. By this training, students will be able to see things through all its contributing/influencing variables back and forth, before arriving at a judgement, conclusion, assumption, belief or decision. He/she will be more scientific and holistic in analysis and decision making. With vipassana meditation, pranayama and other processes of the institute and this IT enabled empirical training, SCMLD students will commit fewer follies and mistakes when it comes to decision making in life, career, relationships and profession. This can help in developing breakthrough vision for problem solving and proactive initiatives. This course is based on the principles of ’Learning Organisation’ as propounded by Peter Senge of MIT, USA, who is trying to revolutionise the educational process in many schools in the USA. Along with the educational qualifications, it is important to develop the abilities to articulate, formulate the problems with all the interconnected & interdependent truths and solve them creatively. This training widens the holistic perspective of the students. This is provided to all students.

Business Dynamics
Those who qualify in System Thinking will proceed to Business Dynamics as taught at MIT, USA.
Coaching for any of the above certifications will not attract any additional fee but registration and examination fees to the examining bodies must be borne by the students. If one has to do these programmes from outside it will cost a huge amount of money and time.
