Accommodation and Mess
Excepting Pune local students (residing with parents, in Pune) it is essential that all out station students stay together. Therefore SCMLD has arranged residential accommodation in separate buildings for girls and boys, 10-15 minutes walking distance from the campus. For about 25 girls, accommodation is available at the campus building itself. This arrangement is to look after all students who are not staying with their parents. It is also to supervise and monitor their behaviour, health and welfare besides providing a learning atmosphere and good habit forming routines. Students’ accommodation fund includes rent for the building, 24 hours security services, cold and hot water facilities, house keeping of the premises, consumables & implements, maintenance, rent for furniture and other administrative expenses etc. all at actuals.

Individual paying guest accommodations do not ensure discipline, punctuality, sanitation or hygiene. It will also add to students’ conveyance cost. It will put students into undue inconvenience as institutes grooming processes starts from 6 - 7 am and goes up to almost 8.00 - 9.00 pm with sufficient free time in between. Therefore it is important for students to be on campus / nearest to the campus.

Every inmate of the hostel is provided with a cot, steel cupboard, bed, table and a chair besides other amenities in their rooms. Every room is shared by 2-3 or more students as the size of the room can comfortably accommodate.

The same is the case with mess facility. The institute oversees the quality of food, the hygiene and its delivery on time at the institute premises so that students need not worry about their breakfast, lunch and dinner. Institute ensures that it is wholesome, nutritious and also tasty. This fund includes all expenses related to its equipments, administration, other overheads and price of food to be paid to the caterer.

The accommodation and mess fund contributions are not on per month basis. It is for the whole academic year. These two services are outsourced on an academic year basis and on particular number of students. Therefore it is essential that all students are to be mess members as well, except Pune local students. In short, instead of students individually running around hunting for accommodation and food- which in most cases are unhygienic, SCMLD facilitates these auxiliary services so that students can concentrate on their learning activities without hassles and anxiety.

All these are at actual cost basis. A lot of accounts work and staff time are involved in procuring and  managing these facilities.

Academic year means the period of June - April.
