Corporate Governance

We follow the ‘Gandhian Trusteeship’ as our Governing Principles.

SCMLD just happened unplanned on the outpouring of the emotions - love, respect and concern - of hundreds of the former students of Prof. M. S. Pillai, on his abrupt separation from their alma mater . They setup a legal corporate entity under the Companies Act to establish, support, finance, provide infrastructure and to parent & nurture SCMLD . The company has transferred the parentage of SCMLD to Sadhana Educational & Empowerment Foundation w.e.f. 1st April 2006 with all its goodwill and after clearing all its liabilities, with the following specific mandates;

a. Education & Academics - To impart the latest and the emerging world class and most appropriate managerial level knowledge, skills , techniques and competencies to its students to sharpen their creative, intellectual and professional acumen.

b. The Executive plus training - To groom the students by excavating their inner assets - emotional intelligence, thinking quality & capabilities, positive & healthy habits and values inculcation- through various experiential self discovering processes and skills developing training programs & assignments.

c. Executive Leadership Development - Customized in-company and open programs for working executives/employees in modular formats for organizations to upgrade the quality of their people assets.

d. Knowledge Research and Development - To delve into collection, compilation & consolidation of Indian culture specific and India based global,managerial & leadership oriented knowledge creation through literature and original field/organizational research and their publication - case studies, articles, literature, teaching notes and training material and so on... All with one mission:

To turnout extraordinary executives - competent and conviction driven action leaders- who will become assets to business, industry, the country, community and to themselves for a better world for all the beings. Since SCMLD owes its origin to that collective emotion, energy and spirit, we at SCMLD declare and promise that, SCMLD is not created with money as its motive. The passion is to work towards developing a “Leadership Gurukulam”. Therefore, we define our profit as follows:

a. Meeting students’ aspirations through best grooming. That is, they should become the living & performing ambassadors of the vision & mission of SCMLD and thus become assets to themselves and the community, being responsible and competent.

b. Parents must be happy for their sons and daughters seeing them as successful professionals and good citizens - loving, caring and leading a happy life of contribution and contentment .

c. Employees must feel secure and grow along the growth of the institution. They should feel that the institution is theirs.

d. Pune citizens should feel proud that SCMLD is in their city.

e. The country should look at this institution with respect and as a model of corporate governance, transparency and as best in executive leadership grooming.

f. Former students of Prof. Pillai must feel proud that SCMLD is their initiative and their institution and as such, want to support it by all means, continually.

g. The suppliers and service providers must feel that SCMLD is theirs and are proud to be associated with it perpetually.

h. The community around SCMLD must feel that the institution belongs to them.

i. The financial contributors must feel ’happy’ that their contribution is serving its purpose of creating a ’great’ institution.

j. To ensure the above, we will follow Gandhiji’s concept of “Trusteeship”. That is, we will be working as Trustees of our customers - students, parents, corporates, suppliers, alumni, employees & their families, other partners, the country and community at large.

We dedicate SCMLD to the above avowed goals.
